Instrument and Electrical Technician – Guyana

An Instrumentation and Electrical Technician is responsible for meeting company demands and completing work orders in a timely manner. Performs routine maintenance, installation, and integration of various types of process control instrumentation equipment respecting safety and quality procedures and standards.

Instrumentation and Electrical Technicians should possess previous relevant work experience and oil and gas construction experience and meet all minimum required training set forth by Qualco Guyana.

TASKS:

  • Responsible for maintenance and repair of all pneumatic instrumentation/electrical systems and equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Responsible for performing corrective activities and recording instrumentation/electrical maintenance activities and subsequent technical reporting as required.
  • Diagnosis of problems affecting production equipment and systems, taking corrective actions to anticipate and prevent downtime.
  • Performs breakdown repairs whenever required and demonstrates initiative in identifying opportunities to improve production performance in the oil and gas industry.
  • Regularly review and monitor compliance with safe work systems and maintenance procedures.
  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, or components, using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
  • Other various duties as assigned by supervisor.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of techniques, tools, and principles involved in electrical/instrumentation systems.

  • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand and comprehend information, asking questions when appropriate.
  • Monitoring/assessing performance of yourself and/or other individuals to make improvements or take corrective action.

REQUIRED ABILITIES:

  • Ability to keep hand and arm steady while moving arm or while holding arm/hand in one position.
  • Ability to see details at close range.
  • Ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine to exact positions.
  • Ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects.
  • Able to operate material handling equipment including hand tools and power tools.

WORKING CONDITIONS/CONTEXT:

Position may require frequent travel aboard helicopters and/or boats. This position include frequent heavy lifting (to 50lbs), frequent climbing, standing, stooping and/or bending, two-handed simultaneous operations, and good hand-eye coordination.  Environmental demands include outside operations aboard oil and gas platforms with exposure to rain, sleet, snow, wind, humidity, cold and heat.
