Breaker Field Engineer
This position is: Full Time
Salary: DOE
Position Location: Various Locations
Under the direction of the Project Manager and with safety, efficiency and customer service a priority, the Field Engineer is responsible for supervising and performing mechanical & electrical operational tests to verify complete and accurate testing and repair of Medium and Low Voltage Breakers and associated protection relays.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 5+ year’s industry experience
  • Working knowledge of HSE practices common to the industry and the company
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks on a daily basis 
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical drawings, symbols and systems
  • Excellent understanding of basic electrical circuitry for AC and DC, and troubleshoot issues without direct guidance
  • Ability to work in a team environment and be a team player
  • Flexible, detail-oriented, and ability to multi-task
  • As per ZTI training and competence policies

Job Specifics
  • Efficiently prepare HSE documentation (work permits, JSAs, stop program, etc.…)
  • Operate test software and troubleshoot as needed
  • Troubleshoot wiring issues and have ability to correct errors or direct others in correction
  • Verify control circuits are wired correctly per engineered drawings
  • Perform installation, commissioning, testing and maintenance of protective relaying equipment
  • Develop written standard commissioning, testing and maintenance procedures for protective relaying
  • Perform end-to-end relay testing using Doble ProTest software or Protection Suite
  • Perform function testing of control circuits on relay panel, transformers & circuit breaker change-outs
  • Test both electro-mechanical and solid state relays
  • Troubleshoot, rebuild, retrofit, test, and repair low, medium and high voltage switchgear to include the teardown and assembly of breakers, contactors and related switchgear and electrical apparatus
  • Troubleshoot and repair automatic transfer switches
  • Perform cable testing - Tan Delta, Power Factor, VLF, DC Hipot
  • Resolve any technical issues and provide inspection criteria for same
  • Ensure proper tools and techniques are followed
  • Provide daily status updates to Project Manager
  • Identify parts and material needed for project
  • Participate in the development of newly appointed team members
